With the latest release of the Dropbox client 0.7.97 with LAN sync (yes, yes, yes!) you may have noticed that your Linux client doesn't show the upgrade. When you go to download the latest client it also doesn't show the latest version. In short, the version you are downloading is the nautilus-dropbox application and not the dropbox daemon. If you were like me, you probably thought... wtf! Do not despair, the daemon upgrade is super easy.
- Stop your Linux dropbox client
- rm -rf ~/.dropbox-dist
- Start dropbox
This will keep all your existing settings and trigger the daemon download. Once completed you should see the latest daemon running when you mouse over the dropbox systray icon. How easy was that!
