No Sound with Creative X-Fi on Ubuntu 10.10

I had a problem with my onboard audio and for various reasons I ended up using the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme PCI-E card only to discover audio wasn't working. After much digging it was clear that I needed to use the development version of also to make this work as noted for opensuse so I followed these instructions:

Success. Hope this helps other troubled users out there (and I know there are a few!).

In short you will need to:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/ppa

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install linux-alsa-driver-modules-$(uname -r)
